IMPORTANT NOTICE: Changes to the route of the hike due to construction work and storm damage. Meeting point and time remain the same.
Both, water and salt are vital for us. On our hike from the outlet of the Ergolz to the Birschöpfli we encounter very important installations for the exploitation of drinking water for the Basel area. Moreover, at Schweizerhalle the Swiss Saltworks obtain salt by leaching from a Muschelkalk layer about 200m below surface since 1837.

Registration online from 21.10.26. Due to delays in repairing the hiking trail along the Rhine near Schweizerhalle (Rheinlehne: construction and maintenance work) and the recent closure of the riverside trail near Augst (storm damage and forest damage caused by drought), the route of the hike had to be adjusted accordingly.
